The service was incredible as our server was attentive and took special care of my autistic daughter. The food was wonderful as we had some appetizers (the fried pickles, fries, and corn bread)

I've waxed poetic about my nascent tsuris with Barbecue on these pages, and it's still in full swing. I now approach any 'Q with hope filtered through trepidation. Bub City is an old, old name in Chicago Restaurants. I remember when it was on a side street near the North Side entertainment district. My last visit there was prolly 30 years ago, and I have dim memories it was pretty good. I've found Lettuce Entertain You joints don't normally suck. Back to the present day: I had the great luck to be chosen for the Rock Godz Hall of Fame, and their induction ceremony was held next to Bub City here in the fabulous "Joe's Live" facility. Bub's catered the event, and I was eager, yet afraid to dig in. Well... Happy to say Bub's (so far) has passed the test. The Chopped Pork was tender and tasty-not too fatty. Yum. I've made it no big secret I'm not an aficionado of most Beef Brisket 'Q, but the offering here was very tasty-cut into chunks like "Burnt Ends". Both proteins did not have the cloying over-smoked taste I cannot abide. The Sides were fab. GREAT Slaw, yummy Beans, and smooth Mac&Cheese. Wife and I have decided to have a full regular dinner at Bub's in the near future, and I will update this Yelp after our visit. I sure hope the Ribs are as good as the catered carte...

My friend and I came here on New Year's Eve before a concert next-door at Joe's Live. We had been snacking earlier so decided to split the brisket platter that came with coleslaw and Texas toast. We ordered a side of brussels sprouts as well. Tasty brisket and very yummy brussels sprouts. My friend says she liked the coleslaw, but I don't touch it personally. A bit loud of a place but it's expansive and we had no trouble talking to each other. Service was speedy and a great location for our New Year's Eve stay. Would go back and try other items.

The fried pickles and Mac and cheese were really good. They were surprisingly crowded so we opted to sit at the bar but honestly the service at the bar was way better and faster than what we saw at surrounding tables so we were happy with that. The ambiance was fine but started to get a little more rowdy as it got later. Definitely a party bar around 9-10pm on a Friday and they had a live band starting to play. Overall I'd come back and they did have quite a few veggie options and a good draft beer selection.

Throughly impressed! Great service and great food! Food: we started with wings and fried pickles. Both were top notch! The wings had a very unique spicy flavor to them. They could have been more crispy but were simply top notch! Very bite was full of heat and flavor. The fried pickles were just as good. Seasoned to perfection. The brisket sandwich was great! The brisket was full of flavor and cooked to perfection! The waffle fries were great. The customer service was great. I'll definitely come back soon.

First time at Bub City to meet a friend. While I was waiting for him, I walked around the area and it has a pretty cool vibe--a few other bars, comedy clubs, and restaurants. We were seated next to the stage--they have live music on the weekends. There is a lot of seating and the place was pretty full on a Monday night. A very energetic and loud crowd, if you like that, and excellent service. Our waitress was right on time--attentive enough to and helpful, without hovering--5 star service! We ordered two appetizers to share--the bacon tater tots and the bbq brisket nachos. The highlight of the tots is that they weren't soggy : ) Now the brisket nachos? High quality, but a little light when it comes to actual meat. We ordered a sweet Chicago style barbecue sauce, with no jalapeños--quite good. Overall, I would highly recommend.
